This is a stunning a drill, working with drill's(cordless and corded)for a long time just holding it you know it's something special,it fit's just right. The tourqe you would never expect from something with a battery yet can be turned down to not even do any damage when screwing into soft pine. I had to spend alot of money to get a corded drill that can handle more than this(that only get's used now on lazy day's if I don't want to mess about changing bit's or serious drilling).DIY'ers or trade this is a must ,forget expensive De(black & decker)walt!!!

The BHP451RFE Combi drill is in the top of my tool box.
I like Bosch dills but we purchased this Makita 18v drill and in my experience it's a lot better drill .
A 3 speed hammer drill drive with a metal gear box .
The Li-ion Batteries only take 22min to charge

I cannot rate this drill too highly. I was biased against cordless, a prejudice made worse by using cheapo Chinese ones. They were of poor power and the batteries soon ran down.

Then I bought one of these. It is by far the most powerful cordless drill available. I still cannot believe the jobs it can do. I have drilled steel and hard masonry and it hardly slows down. The only time it has stalled was when I tried to put a woodscrew into old oak. No surprise there! The chuck is excellent. It's the only non-key one I have ever used that really works.

The 3 Ah batteries last well, usually right through a day's work. If I am using it constantly on heavy work the battery will die, but you get two batteries in this kit, so you just swap. Recharging takes only about 20 minutes so you are never without power.

Comparing this to mains drills I would say it is more powerful than all but the really heavy-duty SDS ones. DC tends to produce smoother power than mains... Read more
